Newsflash --- Heroin Can Kill You

How do people become heroin addicts? There's a new recipe floating around Chicago that laces smack with fentanyl, a painkiller given during childbirth, that has left over 30 people dead in about the last 8 months. Read it here. So let's say you're at a party. Everyone's having a good time. Does someone just suddenly whip out a rig and offer to shoot someone up? Probably not. You have to go out of your way to find heroin and out of your way to learn how to actually prepare a shot without killing yourself on the first try. Despite the allure of a drug that provides an amazing high, the list of people killed by heroin is long and storied. Art Alexakis said something about heroin I'd like to repeat here: Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl who had lots of friends and was very happy. Then one day she tried heroin, lost everything and died. The end.
Iraq - Bring The Family

IN other news of this awesome place we're spending our children's and grandchildren's futures securing, a tennis coach and two of his charges were killed for wearing shorts. Read it here. What would these same pinheads do if confronted with, say, the spectacle of a day at the beach? And this isn't even Brazil. I imagine their heads would simply pop... and that's not a bad idea.
Invading Army Executes 24 Unarmed Civilians

That's not a cheerful headline, and it's even worse when you realize that it was our Marines who did the killing. Read it here. What can be learned from any of this? War breeds corruption like dead flesh breeds maggots. When you train young, impressionable people to kill, don't be surprised when they improvise. All forced jocularity aside, this Iraq imbroglio is in danger of really getting out of hand. The Bushies have been wrong from the start. They were wrong about the WMDs, they were wrong about how to conduct the war, wrong about how to protect key infrastructure, wrong about how to deal with insurgents, and wrong nearly every single step of the way for the past 4 years. Not to mention that Afghanistan is almost worse than it was before we went in there as well, with warlords conducting public executions of ministers and court clerks seemingly when they get bored. Where next, Columbus?
