Hello, Operator? Get Vietnam On The Phone! --- The Pentagon (bastion of American values) recently admitted that when the blew a column of trucks and their occupants to hell, the operation was "probably" carried out in Syria. Just like during Vietnam when we blew the shit out of Laos, Cambodia, and wherever else the hell we thought needed a good saturation bombing. Read about it here, from BBC.
Jesus Christ, Terrorist --- Just when you thought it was safe to be a whitebread Christian, along comes a church that is so wacky they oughta be arrested. A church in Blount County, Tennessee, recently held a "special youth service" for its many young devotees. During this service, the young teens were abducted, blindfolded, handcuffed, threatened by soldiers in gas masks, thrown into vans, forced to crawl around inside a dark church where gunshots were being heard, and then finally lined up, execution style, and told they would be shot unless they denied Jesus. Read about this, here. Only one family complained about this "service," and a spokesman from the church said everyone else found it "powerful." No shit? You think it would be a powerful experience to be a 14 year old girl getting kidnapped at gunpoint by a bunch of men and then threatened to be shot to death? Let's rewrite that law that bans burning churches. I'm sure Jesus would approve of terrorist tactics, because a church in flames is a powerful experience too.

Bush Is A Cunt, Continued... --- Ever notice how two different news articles can dovetail into each other sometimes and give you a more focused understanding of what's going on? Two articles in today's BBC News struck me as being the two heads of the same coin.

Article 1: 6 British Soldiers Killed, 8 Wounded in Iraq. Here's the story.

Article 2: Protesters Jeer Bush Fundraiser In NY. Here's that story.

Isn't the "war" in Iraq over? Didn't we see Bush land on an aircraft carrier off San Diego with a huge backdrop proclaiming "Mission Accomplished?" Quite the contrary. Not only have dozens of American and British soldiers been killed since the "war" ended May 1, but also the discontent and unrest in Iraq over the ineffectual and shabby handling of the country's affairs has grown at an alarming rate. The "grateful" citizens of Iraq are protesting in the streets daily. Armed resistance is becoming a daily event and shipping "allied" soldiers home in pine boxes has become a weekly activity. Meanwhile, Bush is hosting a hotdog party in NY where attendees forked over $2000 each to meet and greet the prez. The Republicans hope to raise $170 million for Bush's re-election campaign. The war in Iraq was just a photo op, just a pretext for giving the extremely wealthy industrialists a shot in the arm. Those same wealthy folks who benefitted from the recent "tax cut" are the same ones giving Bush $2000 towards his re-election. It's good being rich. Fuck the poor. Meanwhile, post-war Iraq is a total shambles. The people of Iraq are quickly going to figure out that their "liberators" are just Yanqui imperialists, all over again.

Just to make the argument clear for any Republicans who accidentally ventured to this site: this has nothing to do with whether Saddam Hussein was an "evil dictator" or not. He was. The issue is whether our President lied to us, manipulated governmental intelligence agencies into issuing false data, used this data to create a non-existant world crisis, lied to and manipulated friendly foreign powers to support us, put our troops unnecessarily in the crossfire, awarded lucrative rebuilding contracts to friends of people in his Cabinet, and finally abandoned and ignored the very real needs and concerns of an entire nation of people desperately needing guidance to advance out of the Middle Ages. Support Our Troops? Of course, why would we want our soldiers to get killed? Needlessly risk Our Troops' lives so that oil company motherfuckers can make some quick profit and Bush can avenge his pussy-ass father's humiliation? You connect the dots.
