Foo Fighters Splinter Cell --- Check out Chris Shiflett's side project, Jackson, here. Chris is the Foos' guitarman, in case you didn't know.

also,

Blur --- Blur's new record, Think Tank, comes out in a couple of weeks, but for the time being you can listen to it online for FREE, here, courtesy of NME. The band has been in tailspin since the "13" album, which came out 100 years ago, and they've compounded their problems by sacking guitarist Graham Coxon. The new disc, well, it really is not very good. Unless you're on Ecstasy and in a London club with a nymphette draped across your lap, which Damon Albarn is no doubt doing right this moment.

And Now To The Main Event --- This whole Iraq business was just a warm-up, a good stretch of the legs, in preparation for the real action: North Korea. That little dumbfuck Kim Il Jong has just confirmed US suspicions about N. Korea's nuclear weapons by saying they will "prove" it soon. So they're going to test a nuclear weapon. With Japan and China a stone's throw away, naturally this has many people upset. Read the story from the Independent, here. Colin Powell is not amused, neither is Secretary of Death Donald Rumsfeld. "General Powell stressed that Washington left "all options" open, making clear that the US did not rule out the use of force. But he did not go as far as Donald Rumsfeld, the Defense Secretary, who in a memorandum to the White House this week urged a policy of regime change, similar to that executed in Iraq." Rad. Nuclear war.

Key Iraqi Leaders Nabbed --- Not everyone got buried under rubble or escaped out secret tunnels. The BBC reports that some top jacks are now in US custody. What are they going to be processed as, "enemy combatants," "prisoners of war," "people resisting a foreign army" or what? Please, this time, let's try and follow the Geneva Accords. It's time to stop acting like a drunken monkey in a china shop, Bushies.

Hello Sports Fans --- for unknown reasons the other News section refused to update after March 31. It looks like some kind of bug to me and the folks at the hosting site have not responded to my emails in 3 weeks. So I have created a new News section, and here it is. Happy hunting. ---PL
The Week In Pictures --- Go have a look at the BBC News' site for the Week In Pictures, here. Pay particular attention to photos 7 and 8. Photo 7 is of an Iraqi boy who had his family killed and both arms blown off after a missile hit his home. Thank you, USA. And photo 8 is of Tony Nave, a little boy whose father was killed in this Iraqi oil liberation. Thank you, Mr. Bush!
Did Bush Go AWOL And Shirk His Duties? --- Cecil Adams, of The Straight Dope, sets the record straight, here. The short version is, yes, Bush did go missing for 17 months, got put at the head of the list for flight school (to avoid Vietnam) although he scored the lowest possible passing grade, and then got an "honorable" discharge so he could go to Harvard Business School. We all should be so lucky...
Coming To Get Ya, Yemen! --- Bush & Company got the biggest hardons of the year when they learned today that the terrorists who blew up the USS Cole and killed 17 sailors have escaped from prison! Yemen is the "ancestral home" of Bin Laden, so this sounds like an open invitation to come sort out Yemen's lax prison system. Damn! Now we have to flip a quarter: do we sack Iraq, attack Syria, sort out Palestine, or go after Yemen? What to do, what to do. Order some more bombs made, and get Halliburton on the phone!..
Tiger Woods Sucks, And Fuck Augusta --- Augusta does not allow women golfers. Tiger Woods is the golf world's biggest star and makes more every year in endorsements than almost any other athlete in the world. Tiger, with his mixed ancestry, should know a thing or two about discrimination. Remember all the black jokes when Tiger first started winning tournaments? Okay, Tiger, you big pussy, this was your chance to use your star power to force Augusta into the 21st Century: go on TV, say you will not play this tournament because discrimination should be abolished. The world, your corporate sponsors, and the public will demand these old boy rules be changed. Tiger decided winning a third straight green jacket is more important. Hypocritical son of a bitch...
Told You Halliburton Were A Bunch Of Evil Cunts --- Good thing Dick Cheney is the VP and kept all his contacts at Hallburton. He really did us all a huge favor not only when he allowed Halliburton to write the Bush energy policy, but also in allowing a non-competitive contract to be awarded for fighting Iraq oil well fires. How much is this contract worth? 7 Billion Dollars in two years! Read the article, from New York Times. Sometimes this stuff is so ludicrous you can't believe it's real...
THIS WAS POSTED BY DYLAN VITERI

Well, you haven't heard from us in awhile, so I thought I'd update a little. The world is still nuts, and we're still planning to man (and woman!) the Bunker for your political ranting satisfaction. Here's a couple of things that have come up in the last few days:

1) Drunk driving. I got into a discussion with someone who said that punishments for drunk driving are too harsh. I completely disagree. Driving is a privilege, and if you become a danger to those around you, that privilege should be taken away - post haste. In fact, I'm slightly in favor of harsher punishments, not softer. Getting your driver's license revoked on a first offense might give stupid frat boys second thoughts before they go killing innocent people and emerging unscathed.

2) Gun Control. Register your fucking guns. If you're afraid the government might take them away, then don't get one. Get psychiatric help for your paranioa instead. And if you are so careless as to have one stolen, perhaps you deserve to be prosecuted for whatever crimes are committed with that gun. Maybe it would make people a little more responsible for their posessions, so that when my friend is found with a bullet in his brain we have somewhere to start the investigation.

3) Police Retardation. My buddy Dave got jumped on Saturday night and was found in by police a ditch with no jacket and no wallet. He had blood running down his face and 2 black eyes, along with sundry other injuries. Instead of taking him home, or to the hospital, it took 3 police cars and who knows how many policemen to escort him to detox, where they refused to believe he had been beat up and instead insisted that he was drunk and fell in a ditch (because people fall in ditches and get black eyes all the time). Meanwhile, Saturday night I followed someone home who was so drunk they did the traditional weaving-across-4-lanes-of-traffic on the road. When I called the police station, they said they didn't have anyone to come out. If this is the protection we can expect in a sleepy little town like Ashland, I shudder to think what's happening in the larger cities...
Terror As The Ultimate Excuse --- Read Robert Scheer's newest column, here. Excerpt from same, "Language is everything here... wherein the goal is inevitably the rationalization of unsavory means through the assertion of a noble end. To this end, we are on a mission to "liberate" the people of Iraq from a cruel dictator our own government supported, even armed, during decades of war crimes and human rights abuses."
Mike Watt & The Stooges --- Legendary musician, punk godfather, hepcat, and all around cool guy, Mike Watt (Minutemen, Firehose) is launching his 2003 career today, April 1st, which is also the birthday of his former bandmate, D. Boon. Listen to some Minutemen today and hoist a Corona in memory of D. Mike Watt & The Second Men will be vanning up to your local dive soon, stay focused. This year's Coachella Festival will have one sure-fire amazing set: The Stooges together again. For their first reunion in 28 years, Mike Watt will be playing with the surviving 3 members of the Stooges. (Dave Alexander died in 1975). Damn that is going to be an epic show!
