Al Gore Speaks --- The rightful President of the USA, Al Gore, gave a rousing speech at NYU today. The speech was in support of MoveOn.org, a web-based advocacy group seeking to get America back on track. You can view Gore's speech on their homepage, here. It's about 40 minutes long, so make some tea. Watching and listening to Gore, one is reminded painfully of what a great President he would have made.
Rise Of The Poltroons! --- In today's Hollywood Reporter, an article on Arnold Schwarzenputz's announced candidacy contains the following by USC professor Martin Kaplan: "This is fabulous for people who love drama, gossip and theater. It's not so fabulous if you think democracy, politics and government are serious and weighty things."

Also bear in mind the kind of politics Schwarzenputz favors. He claims he'll "fight special interests" in Sacto, if elected. Special interests like workers, unions, public lands, clean air advocates, civil rights activists? All the neo-con bullshit, in other words. His Prop 49 became a legally binding burden on the Great State Of California to spend money it does not have on a program that should be funded Federally. Meaning, Prop 49 did not provide funding, and now it is only adding to our debt. Recall Schwarzenputz back to Austria.

Schwarzenputz For Governor! --- Arnold announced today he's going to run for Governor of California. Let's see, Davis was elected with one of the poorest voter turnouts in California voting history. Something like 3 million out of 30 million voted (rough figures). Now these lazy fuckers who didn't vote have driven this "recall" election, and an even smaller number of voters will decide who is our next Governor. Bill Maher had it right: only the people that voted in the real election should be allowed to vote in this new one, but since it's not known who voted, we'll do it on the honor system. If you didn't vote in the last election - shut your piehole about the recall. You gave up your right to complain.

The worst thing about someone like Arnold is everything. He's very conservative, pro-Bush, anti-Union, and has never held office. He has no skills for running California, which is the world's fifth largest economy. He thinks cigars are cool. Look what happened the last time an actor became Governor: Reagan. I would bet that Schwarzie is even more ignorant and jingoistic and reactionary than Reagan, and that's saying something! If you vote for Arnie, you deserve the punishment of being forced to watch "Junior" on endless loop, for all enternity, except for Friday nights when you have to watch "Collateral Damage." Yes, it's much worse than hell.
