MLS Season Kicks Off!

Saturday night saw the 2008-09 MLS Season get underway, and Los Angeles was away to Colorado.

And what a kicking it was. The LA Galaxy lost 4-0 to the Colorado Rapids. Usually it's decided by the chances you miss, as opposed to the chances you take, but in this case the Galaxy didn't even manage any chances.

Perhaps charitably you could say there were 2 chances on goal. Poor David Beckham, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. This Galaxy side would get their asses beaten decisively by academy players at Beckham's former Manchester United.

The Galaxy when in possession of the ball all looked like they were in a marching band, moving stately forward in columns, no one moving off the ball, no diagonal runs, no one running to the player with the ball and wanting the ball. When we lost the ball, everyone seemed content to just watch Colorado run with it. Oh well, fuck it, they took the ball.

4 things are abundantly clear from this match:

1.) Our goalkeeper sucks
2.) at least 2 of our back 4 (and possibly 3 of them) suck
3.) Carlos Ruiz has been tucking into too much Tex Mex food while away in Dallas. He's a fat little fucker "running" around now with about an extra 25 lbs on him..
4.) Ruud Gullitt had better figure out how to get through to these guys, fast, or we can expect to make it three seasons in a row without making playoffs.
