Clean Air
The EPA finally was able to enact a long awaited rule of the Clean Air act. It will save thousands of lives annually and greatly reduce the exposure of dangerous pollutions in the air. This victory came about because Bush was told to go suck it on his "Clear Skies" act, an insidious piece of legislation which would have given polluting companies greater room to keep on polluting. Read it here, Washington Post. Al Franken called it when he said Bush's "Clear Skies" act was just that: an attempt to clear the skies - of birds.

Army and CIA Held "Ghost" Prisoners
It's a violation of international law, but the Army and the CIA agreed to hold prisoners at Abu Ghraib and other secret facilities without ever registering them. Read it here, Washington Post. Think about what that means: they arrested people secretly then shipped them off to secret bases with no record of their arrival. They were disappeared. What's the difference between this and what happened in Argentina? Um, we're the good guys, ulp!
